Traditional Acupuncture

Jocelyn Dudley-Smith BSC (Hons) LicAc is a fully licensed and insured Traditional Acupuncturist, having gained a BSc Honours Degree in Acupuncture from Kingston University and a Licentiate to Practice Acupuncture (LicAc) from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading. She has been studying and practising acupuncture since 2006.
Jocelyn is a full member of The British Acupuncture Council, which is the UK's largest regulatory body for acupuncture, and she holds licenses to practice from Windsor & Maidenhead Royal Borough Council and Wycombe Borough Council.
Jocelyn runs her clinic from a multi-disciplinary therapy clinic within Viking House, just outside Maidenhead town centre, which allows for collaboration with other health professionals, such as physiotherapists, pilates and yoga instructors when appropriate.
In addition to acupuncture, Jocelyn also has a long-term background in other holistic therapies - body massage, reflexology, reiki, dermatology, and clinical hypnotherapy, which gives her a broad perspective on a patient's physical and emotional well-being. She currently has a special interest in herbal tinctures, which can be incorporated into her treatments. She is also studying the benefits of herbal medicines in her spare time as a hobby.
Acupuncture Style
Jocelyn practises an integrated approach to acupuncture, which blends the very gentle and profound needling style of Five Element acupuncture with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture. As part of the Chinese Medicine approach to healing, traditional therapies such as gua-sha (gentle muscular massage using gua-sha boards), cupping (release of toxins and muscular tension), and tuina massage can also be very beneficial to patients.
These integrated approaches of acupuncture and therapies allow the support of patients through a very broad range of acute and chronic conditions, both physical and mental-emotional. Essentially, acupuncture aims to re-establish balance and create free flow within the body; free flow means no pain and increased health.
Other therapies
Jocelyn is also fully qualified in Swedish & Holistic Massage, with advanced training in Deep Tissue, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Myofascial Release techniques. She often incorporates these into her acupuncture treatments, and she finds that these can be a wonderfully beneficial and relaxing addition to the session.
.
Jocelyn is a twice Usui Reiki Master, and this is often incorporated into her treatments to aid relaxation, when appropriate.
There is no additional cost for any of the above adjunct therapies.
There is information about traditional acupuncture, facial revitalisation acupuncture , and Reiki on this website.
There are also some research fact sheets on the many conditions that acupuncture can address, as well as information about claiming acupuncture on private health insurance.
Please do not hesitate contact Jocelyn if you would like to discover more about acupuncture and the therapies she offers.
